WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL PAGE OF THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF SPACE STUDIES

Maria Helena Fonseca President of IASS

Welcome

Welcome to the International Academy of Space Studies – International Academy of Space Studies (IASS). We are an institution with broad research objectives, courses and dissemination of space activities, from a multidisciplinary perspective and with an emphasis on four pillars: space policy, space technology, entrepreneurship and space law.

The emergence of new space actors, in the light of global governance, and the effective awakening of the private sector's interest in space business, both from investors and entrepreneurs, impacts the classic structures of International Space Law, highlighting the relevant role of national space regulations and international organizations for the operationalization of sustainable and successful activities in outer space.

Space issues, in fast-paced and multifaceted movement, need to be constantly revisited in light of the new reality brought about by emerging technologies and the constant occupation of the space frontier, which create previously non-existent tensions between nations.

In this scenario, IASS, an institution focused on the pragmatic and theoretical-prospective vision of activities in outer space, has the honor of inviting students, professionals, public and private entities to participate in this journey to improve their professional capabilities, collaborate with the protection of the space ecosystem, support space activities in the country and internationally.
